BAI TONG TANG Indications According to TCM
How to Take BAI TONG SAN or BAI TONG TANGGranules: 2-4 grams, taken 2-3 times a day, or as prescribed. Dissolve in liquid. Best taken on an empty stomach Whole Herbs: Using a container made of ceramic, glass, or stainless steel (no aluminum, iron or copper) slow boil FU ZI in 3-4 quarts of water for about 60 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients after 30 minutes. Adjust flame so that approximately 2 cups of medicine remain after boiling. Strain herbs. Drink 1 cup upon arising in the AM, and the second cup after dinner or at bedtime. Store herbal medicines in a covered nonmetallic container and refrigerate but do not freeze. Note that: Dosages of herbal medicines are determined by by the nature of the pathogen, but also of the size and sensitivity of the person. As a general rule, doses of herbal medicines are much larger than pharmaceuticals. Whereas a daily pharmaceutical dose is usually less than 1 gram, herb decoctions usually require well over an ounce (28 gr) of whole dried herbs. Granules are concentrated 5:1 ( 5 lbs of herbs are used to make 1 lb. of granules)

What’s the Difference Between, PIAN, WAN, TANG, SAN, SHUI and GAO?
PIAN = Tablet (modern looking pill)
WAN = Pill (old-style or handmade pill, or black teapill)
TANG = Water Decoction (boiled whole herbs)
SAN = Powder (milled or granulated)
SHUI = Tincture (extract with alcohol or other solvent)
GAO = Paste (topical unguent or plaster)
